Vivienne Cunningham

Eastern Volunteers

Viv Cunningham -Smith is CEO of Eastern Volunteers, a Volunteer Resource Service and Aged and Disability Service in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Viv is also the Chair of the state wide peak for Volunteer Resource Services and has 30 years experience in delivering services through paid and volunteer workforces in the child and family and primary health sectors.

Prior to her current role Viv was General Manager of Playgroup Australia responsible as the Senior Practitioner for national service delivery and the research and quality portfolios. She was CEO of Playgroup Victoria with over 15,000 members across 80% of postcodes in Victoria. Viv is from NSW and managed the southern part of NSW for Barnardos Australia for 10 years. She specialised in development of the first integrated children’s family services for under 5 year olds using the brain development research to guide service development and practice.

Viv is a social worker by trade and is a specialist outcomes planner using Results Based Accountability methodology. She has worked for over 15 years with not for profits in developing outcomes and measurement to determine how clients/ consumers are better off. She specialises in working with small to medium not for profits on their governance and in her current role does a lot of repair and restore consulting when governance goes wrong in these organisations.
